At BaseballHQ.com's spring conferences, I told attendees that Alex Rodriguez was a poor choice for a No. 1 overall pick in their drafts, mainly because preseason No. 1s rarely finish first. In fact, over the past five years, the consensus top pick has finished anywhere from seventh to 65th but never first.
