Lviv—On 28 October, in the conference hall of the Ukrainian Catholic University, the presentation of the Ukrainian translation of Kurt Lewin’s autobiographic book A Journey Through Illusions was held. One of the main tenors of the book is the activity of the Sheptytsky brothers and their influence on the life and worldview of Rabbi Ezekiel Levin, who perished during the Holocaust.

Kyiv—On 6-9 November, the third International Festival of Christian Books was held in the the Sportive center in Kyiv. This year the event was held in a different format, within the framework of a secular literature fair. Therefore, the book exhibition was visited by a diverse audience of readers, both religious and secular.

Kyiv— The Ukrainian Union Conference of the Seventh Day Adventists opened a new spiritual center in Podil District in Kyiv. The new church, which was built in two years, has become the finishing touch in the architectural ensemble of buildings of the Ukrainian Union Conference Church of the Seventh Day Adventists. According to the press service of the Church, the new building was opened and consecrated on 7 November in Kyiv.

Lviv—On 7 November, in the village of Popeliany of Pustomyty District, the wooden Church of the Holy Cross of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, a historical monument of architecture, built in 1835, was burnt. On 9 November, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine reported that the cause of the fire was an act of arson.

Dnipropetrovsk—On 4 November, 2008, a “Protocol of Intentions Regarding the Settlement of the Question of the Return of the Roman Catholic Church Building” was signed by representatives of Dnipropetrovsk City Council, Dugsbery corporation and Dnipropetrovsk Roman Catholic parish. The New Bridge/Novyi Mist information agency was told so by representatives of the Catholic community on 6 November.

Kyiv—On 6 November, the head of the Department of External Church Relations of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), Archimandrite Kyryl (Hovorun) met with the Secretary of the Pontifical Counsel for Family, Gzhegozh Kashak. Kyiv—Ukraine’s President greeted the new metropolitan of the Lviv Metropolitanate of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine, Archbishop Mechyslav Mokshytskyi. In his address, published by the presidential press service on 24 October, Victor Yushchenko expressed confidence that the archbishop “will continue the noble work of his renowned predecessors in a fitting way.”
