Brooklyn Pride may have filled the streets in June, but the first Straight Pride parade yielded slightly smaller attendance: zero. The parade was set start at 10AM on Sunday and follow "the same route as the annual Caribbean labor day parade," according to a press release. The parade was organized, or at least conceived of, by a Reggae group whose song was banned (it apparently had lyrics advocating violence against gays — we haven't heard it). They countered that gays are targeting Reggae groups "because 99 percent of the artists are African American." What a mess. At least one brave, gay blogger showed up to find the meeting spot empty. He had this to say: "Damn, and here I wanted a Straight Pride t-shirt." Straight Pride Parade: Attendance Zero [Joemygod] Photo from Joe. My. God..

MONTICELLO, N.Y. -- Bill McMichael braked his new Ferrari F430 Scuderia into the turn, downshifting as he went into the corner. Then he punched it on the straightaway. Pedal down, engine whining an octave higher, the sleek, black car closed in on 140 mph within seconds.

There's an unwritten rule in major league clubhouses that news reporters should not interrupt a player's preparation for a game. That's one reason Chicago White Sox left fielder Carlos Quentin hasn't gotten the attention his American League-leading 36 home runs might normally warrant.
