Not to be confused with GameFly's own GameCenter App, Apple's Game Center will be available next week for most Apple devices in conjunction with the iOS 4.1 roll-out, but won't be ready for the iPad until the release of iOS 4.2 in November. Every year or two, my interest in playing video games wanes and I find myself looking elsewhere for entertainment. Right now, I'm slipping into one of those periods. While I have a stack of new games I'm pretty certain I'll enjoy, after a day of reading and writing about video games I'm turning to books and magazines or heading out to see a film. The way the cycle usually works is that my passion is re-ignited by a game with really solid mechanics or a multiplayer mode worth getting properly stuck into but for now, I'm drifting away a little. I think this is good, though. After some time spent deep in other mediums and doing other things, I come back reminded of what makes video games so unique and promising to me. Perhaps I'll say more on that when I have time to spare.
