Inspired by both the existing comic and the upcoming movie of the same name, Kick-Ass--the latest downloadable effort from Metalocalypse: Dethgame and Zombie Wranglers developer Frozen Codebase--is saddling an odd line. On top of paying homage to both sources--"we go towards the movie story, but a lot of the artwork goes toward the comic book," studio president Ben Geisler tells us--the game is being made under a "pretty darn expedited" schedule, one that started in September. Luckily, the company already had a combat system for th...

I've started way too many games recently that I haven't had a chance to finish. I want to finish them, but other games get all selfish and release themselves. Or go into beta. Other times, I get part of a way through a game and just decide I don't feel like playing it anymore. Achievements help this a little bit. I'm much more likely to finish a game I'm not particularly enjoying if I can crank out some easy achievements. The first ever Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Shackbattle is kicking off tonight at 10PM ET (7PM PT). Information can be found in this comments thread. PC version required. If you haven't snagged your key for the Blur Xbox 360 multiplayer beta beginning on Monday, shoot on over to FileShack and get one! We've got more keys to give away. Here...

Japanese game developer Goichi Suda (aka "Suda-51"), creator of No More Heroes (Wii), has expressed interest in an interview with GameSpot UK in creating games designed around Microsoft's Project Natal and Sony's unnamed motion controller. Instead of porting No More Heroes to the new control schemes, Suda "will make some original [intellectual property] to fit that control system." No More Heroes was designed specifically around the Wii Remote through Suda's experimentation with the control method. Interestingly, this isn't stopping the original No More Heroes from being released (sans motion-control) on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3,

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Sony is developing at least two new portable devices: a cell-phone capable of playing "PlayStation" games and a competitor to Apple's upcoming iPad, which the WSJ says "blurs distinctions among a netbook, an e-reader and a PlayStation Portable." Both devices are supposedly slated for release this year along with Sony's online media platform, launching later this month in the United States and aimed at competing with Apple's iTunes. Interestingly enough, the WSJ is claiming that much of the gaming content to be available on both devices will come mostly from the original PlayStati...
