With all the Apple frenzy dying down after the launch of the new iPhone 3G Friday, I'm finding it's the new iPhone 2.0 software upgrade that is the most impressive - allowing users to connect seamlessly to business e-mail and run hundreds of new games and programs.

Michigan's insurance commissioner approved Friday a rate hike sought by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for 22,000 non-elderly people who buy their own insurance. The rate increase wasn't as much as Blue Cross sought -- 24.3% on average. The state Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation said it did not know how much the rate hike would be.

The Office of Thrift Supervision says it has closed mortgage lender IndyMac Bank. The banking regulator said Friday it has transferred IndyMac's operations to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. after determining the thrift is unlikely to meet depositors' demands.
